History of C.A. Smith Lumber

C.A. Smith has occupied the same location in Ludlow, MA for over 75 years. The current warehouse was once a vaudeville theater. Wooden beams, plywood, feed and other supplies are surrounded by the original molding and woodwork of the theater. We have not changed much at C.A. Smith over the years and this building is just one example of how we have tried to retain that familiar, old-time feel.

When you walk into the store, you will see the same nail bins that your grandfather got his pound of nails from. The feed bins are the same as well. And though the staff and even the owners have changed over the years, there is a deep commitment to doing things the “old-fashioned way.” Business on a hand shake is a way of life at C.A. Smith.
